Transfer report: Jonny Evans ‘hoping to leave West Brom and join Manchester City this summer’

Jonny Evans reportedly wants to move back to Manchester with Pep Guardiola’s City this summer

West Brom Jonny Evans is eyeing a move to Manchester City this summer if the Baggies are relegated from the Premier League – and he could join the champions-elect in a cut-price deal.

Evans has been one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League in recent transfer windows, with City, Leicester and Arsenal all making bids for the 30-year-old defender.

But West Brom resisted the urged to cash in on their skipper and rejected a series of offers last summer and in the January window.

The Baggies put a £30million price tag on the centre-back and rejected bids of £21m from Leicester and £18m from City, plus a deadline day approach from Arsenal in January.

But, according to the Daily Mirror , they could now lose Evans for just £3m due to a clause in his contract if the club is relegated from the Premier League – which seems inevitable with bottom club ten points adrift of safety with just five games left.

And it is claimed former Manchester United defender Evans favours a move to the Etihad Stadium over the Emirates this summer, as he is still based in the North West.
