Eden Hazard has warned Chelsea he could leave the club if the Blues don’t sign top quality players in the summer transfer window.
The Belgian star says he is ‘taking his time’ to decide where his future lies, and that he is ‘waiting for new players’ before he commits to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard’s current contract with Chelsea runs until 2020, but it appears he is concerned over the overall quality of the current Blues squad after failing to qualify for Champions League football .
Antonio Conte appears to have paid for the club’s miserable Premier League title defence with his job, and Hazard has told the club he could be off too if they don’t recruit players who are capable of turning the Blues into challengers again.
Real Madrid have been linked with an interest in the 27-year-old, who is said to be holding off on signing a new bumper £300,000-a-week contract at the Bridge.
Asked about his future, the Belgian flyer said: “It’s a big decision, that’s why I’m taking my time… but one thing for sure is I’m happy here.
“I’m waiting for new players next season. We will see.
“I want good players, I want to win the Premier League next season. I don’t think about [the manager’s future].”
Could Antonio Conte and Eden Hazard BOTH leave Chelsea this summer?
While he won’t be playing in the Champions League next season, after Chelsea were beaten by Liverpool and Tottenham to a place in the top four, at least Hazard is close to completing one of his goals.
The Blues will face Manchester United in Saturday’s FA Cup final and Hazard is despirate to ensure this season isn’t a total failure for the west London club.
“This season has been bad, so now we can save a little bit with this trophy, so we will give everything,” he added.
“I need two more trophies — the Champions League and FA Cup. Trophies are important. It’s more important for me as I’ve never won this one.
“We can’t be in the Champions League next season so we need to win a trophy.
“It’s always hard after you win the league — we saw it two years ago. This season was not good but you know . . . this is Chelsea! You never know what’s happening for the season.”
“For me in my mind, I’m here, I have one week to play now. Saturday is a massive game.”
