The 27-year-old Dutchman has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this summer following the arrivals of new big-money signings Naby Keita and Fabinho .

Wijnaldum, a £25million signing from Newcastle in 2016, made 50 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring two goals providing four assists.

But he is now concerned about the likelihood of reduced game-time on Merseyside this term and is hoping to join a new club to boost his chances of playing.

And, according to Turkish outlet A Spor , the midfielder has been given the ‘green light’ by Liverpool to move to Fenerbahce.

The Turkish Super Lig side are currently coached by his former PSV manager Philip Cocu, who has made a move to be reunited with the workhorse midfielder.

Fenerbahce are still looking for added strength to their midfield after missing out on signing Jack Wilshere, who was heavily linked with a move to the Istanbul club before opting to stay in London with West Ham.
